Last Monday, Room 7 and Room 8 went to Due Drop Centre to watch the movie Tinā.

Before we went, we had to go before 7:45am. Mr Bell waited for everyone to come to school to check who was absent and who was not absent. When we went we had to line up in pairs. I was paired up with Angelina.

When we got on the bus I was quite entertained because the journey was a bit boring but it was quite fun because my friends and I were playing yellow car. Yellow car is a game where when you see one you have to hit someone next to you. I had so much fun but a few minutes later when we arrived we sat down and waited for the other schools. We saw One Tree Hill and Manurewa High.

After a while we went inside the theatre and found our seats, for the past few minutes the movie started. I already started crying, When the movie was finished I felt sorrowful. I almost cried I was so depressed that I could hardly look at the screen.

Then we went back to school and had our Morning tea. After morning tea we had to write about our trip to watch Tinā.

My passion project 2 was all about Artists, my partner and I had to write about a singer that we admire I chose Yung Kai, this is the information I wrote about him.

Yung Kai’s real name is Max Xhang, he was born in China, on July 5th, he was born in 2002. Yung Kai’s music is indie music, he’s known for his 2024 song “blue” , which it went viral on social media, the song he made blue was inspired by the drama “when I fly towards you” , when he was young he learned how to play the drums, piano and guitar. He also created music on the  side, creating beats for fun starting in 2018. Yung Kai is influenced by other singers Laufey, Keshi and Wave to earth, who he called his biggest inspiration. He was also inspired by rappers such as Juice world, XXXTentacion and Yung Thug, his music being of a highly different style Yung Kai’s Music is created in his bedroom Studio.

I chose Yung Kai because maybe one day I want to make music like him and other Artists. Why didn’t I choose other Artists out of all other Singers, It’s because he is the one of the singers that makes the music that I love, I also like Wave to earth.

At the beginning of this term we did a Haiku Poem and a Haiku Poem is a Japanese poem and it has 5 syllables in the first line, 7 in the second line and 5 in the third line. I had fun doing it because I’ve never written one of these before.

I was so nervous

 Cause the water was wavy

But I tried my best.

On Friday, 13 September when I came to school it was a special day. It was Mission Day! We were raising money for the Holy Angels orphanage in India. We were allowed to wear mufti. When we came to school we had Mass. After Mass we had Morning Tea and we had to set up our stands. After we finished setting it up Angelina, Elise, Ruzzel and I went  shopping and the other group had to work on our stall.

I bought a pink octopus, dinosaur and a daisy from the Crochet group in Room 8. After that I went to the top court to buy yummy lollies!! When the bell rang it was my group’s turn to work. We got a sugar rush by eating lots of lollies. After morning tea we watched a movie. After 15 minutes we had sausage sizzles and ice blocks. After the movie we had a HUGE!! tidy up and after that we had our Raffle Prizes.I was very happy at the end of the day!

Cycling Day

Last Thursday morning we were all excited when we came to school because we were going to have Cycling lessons. I was also a bit nervous because I am not confident.

When we started we had to get into two teams and one was Broccoli and the other was Carrots. I was in the team Broccoli. We started at the bottom court when we started biking. Stephanie told us how to check if our bike was safe. She said they have an alphabet to remember.  It is  A – Air, B – brakes, C – chain, D – direction, D – drop test, Q – quick release lever x3.

After that the Broccoli team went to the top court and then I went with some other children to the canopy. We had to practise our balancing by scooting with two legs. It took a little while to balance. Then I started to glide which was scooting and then lifting my legs up. I had to use the brakes to stop gently.

After morning tea I felt more confident and I went back to the top court and I started to pedal. We went around the outside of the court. It was fun and I was proud of myself at the end of the day.

Yesterday on Wednesday I didn’t go to the Rippa Rugby Tournament because I didn’t choose to go. In the morning we could choose a spot to sit at. I was sitting with my friends and two of the Room 8 girls. They had brought their crochet set and they started teaching me how to crochet. They gave me some yarn and a hook. After morning tea we went outside to experience what we could see, feel and hear.  We went to look and smell the flowers that are growing along the fence. They are called Freesias and they smell like vanilla and lemon, mixed together. Later I wrote this poem:

Do you want to learn about the Olympics but don’t know where to start? I got you! The first Olympics was held in Athens in Greece in 776 BC. The Olympics games had no medals and women could not compete in the Olympics. I am pleased that has changed because my athlete I chose to research is a girl.

Last week we had to choose an Athlete for our Olympics, I chose Fe’ofa’aki ‘Epenisa. She’s a Tongan Athlete. She was the first Tongan Athlete to represent Tonga at the Olympics games. In fact no males have represented Tonga at the Olympics in boxing either. My athlete is 28 years old and she hasn’t won any medals yet.

During this international language week, I researched my country, my culture and my language. I come from Tonga.

Turtles and Tortoises  are similar because they both lay eggs on land, and eat vegetables. They are both very slow movers as well. Turtles can swim, however Tortoises can not swim for long and live mostly on land. Turtles can live for 20-30 years while Tortoises can live for 100-150 years. Although Turtles have thin, flatter shells on top, Tortoises have thick shells with a round dome on top. Turtles mainly live in water and they come out on land to lay their eggs. Tortoises have toes and claws but on the other hand Turtles have big flippers and they have webbed feet so they can move easily through the water.
